"Jessie was picked up by Charlotte/Mecklenburg Animal Control in early November 2003. Jessie was held by Animal Control for another 3 weeks while they waited for his owners to come for him. In fact, that's how he got his name. My husband and I started calling him "Jessie James" because he was our little outlaw we had to bust out of jail. His owners never showed, but I went to see him often during this time while I was waiting to see if he needed help. Little did I realize just how much help he needed.
Finally the day approached where they were going to release him, that's when they notified me that he was Heartworm positive. Since I am not a rescue and do it on my own when I can, I became very nervous about how I was going to help him. There was no doubt that I was going to get him out of that place, but I didn't know how I was going to pay for his medical care. I already had 2 other rescues in my care at the time and was on thin ice with the other half.
That's when someone suggested I contact The Goldstock Fund for assistance. I am so glad I did! The Goldstock Fund wasted NO time in telling me they would help and I owe it all to the wonderful folks of The Goldstock Fund and all those that support them to make it possible to not only help him, but to make it possible for me to continue to help all those that came after him. Jessie started his Heartworm Treatment December 1st and he was in my care until the end of January. By the beginning of January, Jessie had found his forever home and he waited anxiously to join them. At the end of January Jessie joined his family in the wonderful mountainous countryside of the Pigeon Forge area and is living the life of a king! Thank you for all your help with Jessie and all that you do for all the other rescues in need of assistance. As you can see from the picture he is with a WONDERFUL family!
